FROM WASTE TO VALUE CREATION
Every year, between 40 and 60 million tons of excavated soil are produced in Switzerland. Considered as "waste," these earthy materials are mostly exported, especially to our neighboring countries France and Germany. Their transport causes high CO₂ emissions as well as significant noise pollution. However, these resources can be reused here in Switzerland.
A LOCAL NETWORK FOR SOIL EXCHANGE
To facilitate this change in practice, the association Terrraterrre has developed this soil exchange platform. Architects, farmers, builders, landscapers, and private individuals can easily find a recipient for their excess soil or upgrade excavation materials from other construction sites in Switzerland.
TOWARDS MORE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
By choosing an alternative to exporting excavation and drilling materials, you reduce your transport and processing costs. In addition, you lower the CO₂ footprint of your landscaping and construction work and thus contribute to the fight against global warming. To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 (Paris Climate Agreement), we must reduce the embodied energy we produce. This also includes reducing the volume of excavation materials generated by the construction sector and/or upgrading them locally. Join terrraterrre.ch and participate in the change!
WHO ARE WE?
The association Terrraterrre was founded in 2022 by Jan Forster (landscape architect and urban planner) and Yannick Poyat (agropedologist). As a non-profit association, it manages the platform terrraterrre.ch.
